A manure separator is a specialized machine used to separate the solid materials within slurry manure generated on cattle and small-ruminant farms. Simply put, it is a type of solid–liquid separation system. Due to the nature of animal waste, it contains both liquid and fibrous, dense matter. Manure separators process this mixture physically to obtain manure in two distinct phases.
These two outputs are:
Solid manure: Can be used for compost production, as a soil conditioner, or as a natural fertilizer.

The machine’s basic operating principle is based on mechanical disintegration, screening, and compression. The system works as follows:

Separation Stage: The manure passes through a special screen. The screen allows the liquid phase to pass while retaining the solids.
Compression: Excess liquid remaining in the solids is expelled by mechanical compression, and the solid material is discharged through the outlet channel.
Dual Outlet: Two different phases—one liquid, one solid—are obtained from separate outlets.
This process takes only a few minutes. As a continuous-operation system, it can run 24 hours a day on farms.
The volume of manure produced on farms is very high, and managing this volume directly is difficult. With a separator, manure becomes drier and takes up less space. Transport and storage therefore become easier.
The separated solid fraction can be sun-dried and composted directly. Such compost increases the soil’s water-holding capacity and enriches its organic matter content.
The liquid phase can be transported to fields using slurry tanks. Because liquid nutrients are absorbed directly by the roots, they support plant development.
